Meijer Mperks: New Important Terms!

Remember how great we all thought it would be to have a digital coupon program at Meijer that would allow us to use both manufacture and the digital coupons together??  Well, it appears that Meijer has changed its original terms from when the program was released (what - three, four weeks ago?).......Here is the current answers that Meijer has to its mPerks program:
  • Q. Can I use the coupons more than once? A. The coupons are only valid once.
  • Q: Can mPerks (digital coupons) be used with (paper) manufacturer coupons? A: There is a limit of one coupon per item. mPerks (digital) and paper coupons cannot be combined on the purchase of a single item. Q: Can you use Mealbox, mPerks and manufacturer coupons together? A: There is a limit of one coupon per item. Paper coupons (Mealbox or manufacturer) cannot be combined with mPerks coupons on the purchase of a single item. However, Mealbox coupons may be combined with manufacturer coupons.
So.....it basically comes down to they have made another option to obtain some coupons to use at Meijer, but it is unfortunately not going to be as great as originally planned.   I just wanted to give a head's up because originally they were going to be able to be used along with paper coupons. Thanks for the heads up Saving Addiction!

I think Kroger has the same terms with their ecoupons, but it has always worked to use both and no one has every said it couldn’t be done when I was there. From other posts, I think many others have done it without problems. Maybe it will be the same way.

Like I replied above, I know it has worked in the past and sometimes still is…..but their official stance is that it shouldn’t happen. My feelings are somewhat mixed about this because we have all these options for digital coupons to load – which Kroger advertises as well – but yet their computers don’t recognize either one or the other? It’s a lot for us to try to keep track of with manufacture, cellfire, shortcuts, P&G eSaver, and Kroger digital! I personally can’t keep track of everything I have and if something comes off I consider it a bonus :-)

I hope you are right Katie ^^^

If not, what a pain! Now I will have to decide if I use the mPerks or MQ…no way to say use this one but not that one as I have a MQ of greater value.

Just one more obstacle to work around for Meijer (e.g. like only two like coupons per transaction => multiple transactions…..if Kroger isn’t going belly up taking unlimited double coupons, why can’t Meijer do it….? But I digress….)

The good thing about Mperks is that you can delete them from your account if you have a better coupon – but yes, it is just one more thing to have to keep track of there ;-)

I’ve never been able to use my loaded coupons at Kroger with manufacturers. If I use a paper coupon, the coupon on my card does not apply.

Kroger changed their policy back in April and they now have it in the FAQ’s on their digital coupon page that you can’t use a paper and a digital coupon on one item……while sometimes it does still happen that way – they “officially” don’t want it to be. I know they are getting more strict on this as well…..I’ve heard several stories on forum boards where people were not able to use both.

      • Karen says:

The also aren’t supposed to give overage (when coupon exceeds the price of the item)….but they do….

As to the electronic coupons, for the most part, I load them and if they work I just consider it a bonus. I don’t pay too much attention to them….

        • savingmoneywisely says:

I agree. I load them when they come out and I usually don’t even realize they are there when I’m shopping. I do wish they would streamline things a bit so it wouldn’t be as hard for people to keep up with…oh well, in a perfect world, right? ;-)

I think often that is really the whole point….to create the illusion that we are getting something but they (corporations) are hoping that they make it so challenging that we fail at getting the discount.

It might seem cynical, but if they really wanted us to get these discounts, they would in fact stream line things as you suggest.

Thank goodness for blogs like yours who help to stack the odds in our favor and simplify things :)
