Catalinas are a great way to find additional savings in your grocery budget – but what happens if something goes wrong and your catalina doesn’t print as it is supposed to?
First, let’s back up a bit and I’ll explain exactly what a catalina is. A catalina is a special promotion that a manufacture will arrange with a store. Catalinas change monthly and you can check out a current listing on my Catalina page. For example, right now at Kroger if you purchase 2 Oscar Mayer hot dog variety, you will receive a $2.00 coupon printout that is good on your next order! A lot of times catalina coupns will “roll” meaning that you can use the money off (for example, the Oscar Mayer above) to go towards your next purchase of Oscar Mayer – reducing your out of pocket costs. I often will use catalina savings to go towards meat or produce, or those specialty items that may not often have coupons available.
So – let’s say you’ve got all of your items ready to go, you head to the checkout, and pay. But then what happens if the catalina you were expecting does not print? There are a few options that you can do:
1. Head to customer service – If the advertisement was listed in the store (there are sometimes tags underneath items that have catalina deals running on them) head over to customer service and show them your receipt and the items and ask for them to credit you. However, a lot of times catalina deals are not listed in the store, which is why I usually just go straight to option #2.
2. Call the catalina company at 1-888-8COUPON. Have your receipt ready with the store you were in, time, date, amount purchased, etc. They will then send you a catalina coupon in the mail as long as your items qualified.
3. Email the catalina company at coupon@catalinamarketing.com . Be sure to list how they can contact you, your name, address, store you were at, time, date, and items purchased. This is another way for them to be able to mail you your catalina.
Just on a side note, I do try to keep the catalina listing as up to date as possible. I check several sources to gather the list, or if I personally receive a print out I will list it. If you ever receive a print out of an upcoming catalina, feel free to contact me and I will add it to the list! Everyone benefits from having this information and saving as much as possible – catalinas are one of those hidden gems that goes a little beyond average couponing and I love it!
